Prayer

Some dear friends of ours, Pete and Whitney Bradburn, found out Tuesday morning that their 7 year old son, Forester, had a brain tumor.  He was having random headaches, so the doctor wanted to do a CT scan as a precaution.  After the scan, as well as an MRI, he was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma (a highly malignant primary brain tumor that originates in the cerebellum).  Forester had surgery yesterday morning to remove the tumor.  There is a chance that he will have side effects such as loss of speech and coordination from the surgery.  This can last up to a year.  He is still quite groggy, so they are unsure how the surgery has affected him.  Forester will undergo chemotherapy and radiation over the next 8 months in hopes that the tumor doesn’t return.  You can stay updated by visiting their family blog: http://thebradburns.blogspot.com

Please pray…
-that Forester will have no lasting effects from the surgery
-that fluid will not gather around the brain as he recovers from surgery
-that chemo and radiation will be effective in keeping the tumor from returning
-for Whitney and Pete’s endurance and wisdom, as they also have a 3 year old and a 3 month old at home
-for wisdom for the doctors as they treat Forester

Below is a prayer that Matt and I have been praying for Forester from a book that my mom gave us called Prayers and Promises for My Little Boy, by Stormie Omartian.  Please join our family in praying for this precious little boy.

“Lord, because you have instructed us in Your Word that we are to pray for one another so that we may be healed, I pray for healing and wholeness for Forester.  I pray that sickness and infirmity will have no place in his life.  I pray for protections against any disease coming into his body.  Whenever there is disease, illness, or weakness in him, I pray that You, Lord, would touch him with Your healing power and restore him to total health.  Amen.”

A verse to claim for Forester’s healing
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.  The effective, fervent prayer of a righeous man avails much.”
James 5:16
