One for the Books!

There is some major news in the Daniel household today…our boy rolled over!!  If you aren’t a parent, you probably think that our excitement is ridiculous and that this event isn’t post-worthy.  If you are a parent, then you know how monumental this is in the life of our little Mr. Incredible!  Not only did he roll over, but he rolled from his back to his tummy (at 8 weeks, mind you!), which according to the excerpt below from shouldn’t happen until a baby is 5-6 months old!

“Your baby may be able to kick himself over, from his tummy to his back, as early as age 2 to 3 months. It may take him until he’s about 5 or 6 months to flip from back to front, though, because he needs stronger neck and arm muscles for that maneuver.”

Matt and I have a ritual of waking Eli up around 9:30 to feed him before we put him down for the night.  We play with him and let him get a little fussy before feeding him so he’ll stay awake long enough to eat.  Last night I got him out of his bassinet and put him on our bed for his few minutes of “playtime.”  He had both of his legs straight up in the air and was rolling them from left to right with a ginormous smile on his face, which he has done several times in the past.  After moving his legs back and forth a couple of times, he rolled to his right and kept going until he was completely face down!  I was so shocked I yelled out loud, which brought Matt running from the bathroom, toothbrush in hand!  I couldn’t get Eli to do it again, but I am so proud of how strong he’s getting and honestly a little sad about how fast he’s growing!  I know the next months and years will bring new joy, but I want him to stay a little squirt for a little longer!
